The Wines of Washington and Oregon

Explore two of America’s most exciting wine regions. In The Wines of Washington and Oregon, you’ll learn the key grapes, AVAs, and styles that define each state—from Washington’s bold, structured reds to Oregon’s elegant, cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Build the knowledge and confidence to understand, describe, and recommend these wines with clarity.

A complete overview of two dramatically different states for wine production. Washington is hot and dry (where the grapes are grown anyway), while Oregon is more known for cold and wet in the Willamette Valley. But the story is much more complicated than that, going far back into post-Prohibition laws in Washington, and outliers that believed in the potential for Pinot Noir in Oregon.

It’s a fascinating comparison, and in this course you’ll learn about all the major and minor AVAs, the styles of wine to expect, and tons of info on producers, vineyards, and the future.
