“The Villages” and Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Hautes Côte de Beaune

Four more designations to discuss!

Côte de Nuits-Village: A combination of vineyard sources from throughout the northern half of the Côte d’Or. These are often grapes and vineyards declassified down from their village level wine, but of good enough quality to not go all the way down to “Bourgogne” level at the bottom.

Côte de Beaune-Village: A combination of vineyard sources from throughout the southern half of the Côte d’Or. These are often grapes and vineyards declassified down from their village level wine, but of good enough quality to not go all the way down to “Bourgogne” level at the bottom.

Hautes Côte de Nuits: A combination of vineyard sources from the hills up above and to the west of the Côte de Nuits section of the Côte d’Or.

Hautes Côte de Beaune: A combination of vineyard sources from the hills up above and to the west of the Côte de Beaune section of the Côte d’Or.

All four of these categories represent great value, and from a good producer and especially in a good vintage, these are wines to seek out! They are the step way above Bourgogne, but before you hit the village level wines.
