At the far southern end of the Côte d’Or, something cool happens.

The hills rise up. The angles get sharp. The limestone of the far north makes a reappearance. And suddenly, just like that, you’re back into red wine production. These wines can be a good bargain (relatively speaking, since this is Burgundy), especially if you like more rustic aromas and flavors on your wines ala Nuits-Saint-Georges.
