Soave DOC and Soave Classico DOCG

Soave and Soave Classico are essentially totally different regions. Basic “Soave” allows for more industrial-style winemaking en masse, whereas Soave Classico is more about hand crafted wine.

As I explain in the video, it’s not completely black and white. Great producers such as Fattori and Anselmi are located in the Soave (non-classico) zone but make stunning wines.

But for the most part I focus on Classico.

As you can see, the Classico zone is all about hills and soil. This results in lower yields, serious wines, and hand crafted product … which is exactly the opposite of basic “Soave.”
